Welcome
Amnesty Shrewsbury Group
We welcome anyone who shares the values of Amnesty International. There is no charge to join our group, although many of our members have become members of Amnesty International.
Our activities
Monthly meetings - usually the third Tuesday evening of each month at 7.30 pm. We meet at the Hobbes Room, Shrewsbury Library (through the small wooden door under the arch at the library entrance). We have a full programme of speakers, workshops, and opportunities to take part in our campaigns. We usually attract between 8 and 15 members, and welcome anyone who would like to join us, or just find out more.
Monthly stall in Shrewsbury town centre, encouraging passers by to sign our petitions and letters.
Local events, both to raise funds for Amnesty UK and to raise awareness of human rights issues.
Letter-writing from home - which you can sign up to whether or not you attend our meetings.
Education – we can provide speakers (with notice) to speak in schools, colleges, church meetings etc, and can also lend out Amnesty DVDs, posters and other reference materials.
Sales - We sell Amnesty merchandise (candles, badges etc) and also our own stock of local products such as Amnesty porcelain coffee mugs and Christmas cards.
